Start by marking and cutting the
            Color 1  7" x  14" rectangle into eight 3-1/2" squares... |

Then mark and cut the Color 3  3-1/2" x 31-1/2" strip into nine 3-1/2" squares... |

             Next, sew a Color 2  1-1/2" x
            14" strip to a Color 1  1-1/2" x 14" strip, right
sides together, using a 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance
towards the inner strip. Add another Color 1  1-1/2" x
14" strip to the bottom, also pressing towards the inner strip.
Cut into four 3-1/2" squares... |

             Now sew a Color 3  1-1/2" x
            12" strip to a Color 2-1/2" x 12" strip, pressing
seam allowance towards the outer strip. Add another Color 2  1-1/2" x 12" strip to the bottom, pressing seam towards the
outer strip. Cut this at 1-1/2" intervals, to make
            eight strips... |

             Then sew a Color 2  1-1/2" x
            6" strip to a Color 3  1-1/2" x 6" strip,
pressing seam towards the center strip. Add another Color 3  1-1/2" x 6" strip to the bottom, pressing towards the center
strip. Cut this at 1-1/2" intervals to make four strips...
