** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

First, use the templates provided to cut the number of pieces indicated...

Sew quarter square triangles to the left and right of each corner strip, using a 1/4" seam, and pressing seams towards triangles. Make eight units like this...

Sew a small Color 1 square between two corner strip units, again using a 1/4" seam, and pressing seams towards the strip units. Make four units like this...

Make the block's four corners by sewing together two triangle units and a center strip unit. Press seams towards the center strips. These should measure 4-1/2" ...

The piece the block. Make three horizontal rows, inserting the Color 2 rectangles and Color 1 center square as shown at left. Press row seams in alternating directions...on to Page 2!
