Cut the Color 5  5-1/4" (4-1/4")square in half on both diagonals to make four large quarter square triangles...

Now cut the Color 5  3-1/4" x 13"  (2-3/4" x 11") strip into two 3-1/4" (2-3/4) squares. Stack the squares and cut them in half on both diagonals to make sixteen quarter square triangles... 

Cut the Color 5  2-1/2" x 10" ( 2" x 8") strip into four 2-1/2" (2")squares...

 

 

Now we'll make the Quarter Squares! Using a scant 1/4" seam allowance start by sewing together two Color 3/Color 5  3-1/4" (2-3/4") quarter square triangles. Press seams to darker side. Sew these units together to make a Quarter Square. Trim to measure 2-1/2" (2") if needed. Make three more Quarter Square in this color arrangement, then make four more using Color 4/Color 5 quarter square triangles...

 

 

Time to start assembling the block! Sew a Color 5 square to a Color3/Color 5 quarter square. using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Press towards square. Then sew a  Color3/Color 5 quarter square to a Color 4 square, again pressing seam towards square. Join those two units. This should measure 4-1/2" (3-1/2") Make one more unit like this in that color arrangement, and then two more using Color 4/Color 5 quarter squares and a Color 3 square and Color 5 square...

 

 

Now sew together the Color 1 and a Color 5 large quarter square triangles, pressing seams to darker sides. To each of those pieced triangles add a Color 1 half square triangle, pressing towards larger triangle. These should measure 4-1/2" (3-1/2")...
