This makes a 10" block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Start by cutting the Color 1  5" x 11" strip into two 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles and two 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...

 

 

Now cut the Color 2  5" x 16" strip into two 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles, two 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles and four 2-1/2" squares...

 

 

 Now make two of the A units shown at left by sewing  a Color 2 square to a short Color 1 rectangle in a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam to dark side. Add a long Color 1 rectangle to the top of that unit....

 

 

Next make two of the B units shown at left by sewing  a Color 2 square to a short Color 2 rectangle in a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam to dark side. Add a long Color 2 rectangle to the top of that unit....

 

 

Then sew the Color 3 square to the bottom right of an A unit. Sew from the outside edge to a point 1/4" from the end of the square. Backstitch one stitch to secure that end. Press out the square...on to Page 2!
