25 Patch Variation - Page 2

Piece the two "star corners" by following the diagram at left, and using all SCANT 1/4" seams. Alternate pressing directions with each addition to keep your seams from being bulky and difficult to quilt through!

 

 

Next sew a Color 2 half square triangle to the right side of a half square, using the same SCANT 1/4" seam. press seam allowance towards the half square. Add another Color 2 half square triangle to the lower edge of the half square, this time pressing seam allowance towards the triangle. Make seven more units like this...

 

 

Sew each of the units you just made to the slant side of a Color 1 octagon, right sides together and all edges aligned. Press the seam allowances towards the center octagon...

      

 

Now piece the block by joining the star and octagon units as shown at left. Alternate pressing directions with each addition! ...and there you have it! :o)
