** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 1  4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make four quarter square triangles. Next cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 20 " strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

Then cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 20 " strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

Now cut the Color 3  4-1/2" x 23-1/2" strip into one 4-1/2" x 8-1/2" rectangle and six 4-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles...

Next, cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Cut the Color 3  2-7/8" x 17-1/4 strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack FOUR of the Color 3  2-7/8" squares and cut in half once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles

Now stack a Color 2 and a Color 3  2-7/8" square right sides together and all edges aligned. ( I show them staggered and enlarged here just so you can see what I am doing) On the back of the top square lightly draw in the diagonal, and then stitch 1/4" away from the drawn line on both sides of it. Cut apart on the drawn line. Repeat this with one more set of Color 2/Color 3  2-7/8" squares to make a total of four half squares. Press these to darker side. These should measure 2-1/2" ...  ...on to Page 2!
