The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try The Star of the Alamo! You will need to print out two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You also need one 2-1/2" center square with the 1/4" seam lines marked in the corners on the wrong side. Fat Quarters will be fine!

After all units are paper pieced, join one of the PP units to the center square, stitching only between the two 1/4" markings, and backstitching at beginning and end of the seam...

Add the other identical PP unit to the opposite side in the same manner...

Now add another PP unit to the left...

...on to Page 2!
