** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First use the templates to cut out your "petals" from the Color 1  2-1/2" x 23" strip. ...

Next cut the Color 2  4-7/8" square in half on the diagonal to make two half square triangles...

Now mark and cut the Color 3  4-1/2" x 17-1/2" strip into two 4-1/2" x  8-1/2" rectangles...

Then cut the Color 3  5-1/4" square in half on the diagonal, stack the resultant triangles and cut again on the diagonal, giving you four quarter square triangles...now...

 

Place two opposite "petals" right sides together, and sew from the lower point to within 1/4" from the top edge. Press seam allowance to one side. Make two pairs of these...

 

Sew the two pairs together, this time sewing from the lower edge to within 1/4" of the point. Press seam allowance to one side. Now place the Color 3  4-1/2" square right sides together along the fork in the petals. Sew from the top edge to within 1/4" of the square's lower edge...
