** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

First use the templates to cut out your "petals" from the Color 1 2-1/2" x 23" strip. ... |
|
Next cut the Color 2 4-7/8" square in half on the diagonal to make two half square triangles... |
|
Now mark and cut the Color 3 4-1/2" x 17-1/2" strip into two 4-1/2" x 8-1/2" rectangles... |
|
Then cut the Color 3 5-1/4" square in half on the diagonal, stack the resultant triangles and cut again on the diagonal, giving you four quarter square triangles...now... |

Place two opposite "petals" right sides together, and sew from the lower point to within 1/4" from the top edge. Press seam allowance to one side. Make two pairs of these... |

Sew the two pairs together, this
time sewing from the lower edge to within 1/4" of the point. Press seam allowance to
one side. Now place the Color 3 4-1/2" square right sides together along the
fork in the petals. Sew from the top edge to within 1/4" of the square's lower
edge... ... on to Page 2! |
