This makes a 14" block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Start by cutting the Color 1  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

 

 

Next cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 22-1/2" strip into nine 2-1/2" squares. Cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack those 2-7/8" squares and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

 

 

Now cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Cut the Color 3  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack those 2-7/8" squares and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

 

 

Then cut the Color 4  2-7/8" x 23" strip into eight 2-7/8" squares. Stack those and cut once on the diagonal to make sixteen half square triangles. Cut the Color 4  2-1/2" x 26" strip into four 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles...

 

 

Use Color 1 and Color 2  2-1/2" squares to sew four of the Four Patch units shown at left. Use a 1/4" seam allowance from now on! Press the seams to the darker sides. Each Four Patch should measure 4-1/2"...on to Page 2!
