This is a variation on the more commonly known Ships Block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First, mark and cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut a Color 2  2- 1/2" x 42- 1/2" strip into seventeen 2- 1/2" squares...

Now speed piece the half squares by stacking the Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" x 23" strips right sides together. On the back of the top strip, lightly mark the 2-7/8" square lines, then mark the diagonals in the direction shown at left.
Sew 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting at the square lines. Cut apart on the square lines and on the marked diagonals between the rows of stitching. This will give you sixteen half squares. you only need fifteen for the block. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric...

Next, piece the block, making rows as you see them at left...and that's all there is to this one!
