Now piece the block, by sewing the three rows together, pressing the seam allowances towards the top and bottom rows, and being sure to keep the stem end free...

Lastly, lay the stem piece out in a slight arc, so that its bottom end is centered on the bottom of the center square, and applique it down along both sides, using thread to match the stem...and this leaf is DONE!

The quilt has straight set leaf rows separated by sashing rows in the same color as the border. These leaves are great in Fossil Ferns, or marbles!
