This makes a 12" block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First mark and cut the Color 2  2 1/2" x 7 1/2" strip into three 2 1/2" squares. Then Mark and cut the Color 3  2 1/2" x 12 1/2" strip into five 2 1/2" squares. Then mark and cut the Color 5  2 1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2 1/2" squares...

 

 

Next cut the Color 4  4 7/8" square on the diagonal. You will only need one of the resultant triangles. Save the other one for a future project!!

 

 

Now cut the Color 5  2 7/8" square on the diagonal to make two half square triangles...

 

 

Lastly, mark and cut the Color 5  4 1/2" x 13" strip into two 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles ...and now...

 

 

Piece the top row of the block, by sewing together a Color 1 square, a Color 5 square, a Color 2 square, a Color 5 square, a Color 3 square and a Color 5 square, using all scant 1/4" seams, and pressing seams towards the darker fabrics...

 

Next make one of the six square units shown at left, and TWO of the two square units shown at left ...
