** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

To make a quilt with this pattern, you'll want to grab some graph paper, and plan out where you want which colors to be, and that will determine how many of each half square triangle color you will need. Click here to read a bit more on the quilt making process...or continue on to make just one block...

Start by marking and cutting the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 6  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Mark and cut the Color 8  5" x 15" strip into twelve 2-1/2" squares...

Now mark and cut the Color 8  2-7/8" x 8-5/8" strip into three 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square triangles...

For this block, you need two half squares triangles of Color 2 and Color 7, and one each from Colors 4 and 5. Each of these is cut from 2-7/8" squares. Save the extra ones for another block or project...

Sew each of the colored half square triangles to a Color 8 half square triangle, using a 1/4" seam. Press seams to dark side. These should measure 2-1/2" ...on to Page 2!
