** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four Half Square Triangles...

Next use the trapezoid template provided to cut four traps as shown at left from the Color 2   2" x 17" strip. Now cut the Color 2  2-3/8" x 4-3/4" strip into two 2-3/8" squares. Stack those squares and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make four Half Square Triangles...

Use the square template provided to cut four squares from the Color 3  3" x 12" strip...

Then cut the Color 4  2-3/8" x 19" strip into eight 2-3/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make sixteen Half Square Triangles. Cut the Color 4  3" square in half along both diagonals to make four Quarter Square Triangles...

Now we'll start to piece the block! Use a 1/4" seam now and throughout the block making. Sew a Color2 Half Square triangle to one side of a Color 3 square. Next sew a Color 4 Half Square Triangle to the opposite side of the Color 3 square. Press seams towards triangles. Now sew another Color 4 Half Square Triangle to the lower left edge, and another to the upper right edge. Press seams towards the triangles again. Make four units like this. These should measure 3-1/2"...on to Page 2!
