This makes a 6" block, and is paper pieced!...first showed up on the quilting  scene in 1899 :o)

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try Squire Smith's Choice! You will need to print out two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be ample!

After your units are pieced, join the triangle units as shown at left, using a 1/4" seam, and pressing the seams to one side...

Then join the four quarter blocks to make the block, pressing seams in alternating directions. Done! Squire Smith would be so proud!

...on to Page 2!
