Here's a 12" Block, just right for beginners, but also fun and quick for all levels!

** Preparing the Pieces And Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 and Color 3  3-1/2" x 10-1/2" strips into three 3-1/2" squares of each. Mark and cut the Color 2  3-1/2" x 21" strip into six 3-1/2" squares. You also need one 6-1/2" square of Color 1...

To sew three of the corner blocks, sew pairs of colored squares right sides together as shown at left, using 1/4" seams. Press seams towards the darker side. Sew these units together, again using 1/4" seams. Make one unit with the Color 1 and Color 3 small squares, and two units using Color 2 and Color 3...

Now piece the block, sewing your units together as shown at left! Be sure to press row seams in opposing directions, so the seams lay nice and flat!
