** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  2-1/2" x 22-1/2" strip into nine 2-1/2" squares. Also from Color 1, cut one rectangle, two squares, and four half square triangles using the templates provided...

Next mark and cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 25" strip into ten 2-1/2" squares. Also cut one rectangle and five half square triangles using the templates provided. Cut one Color 3 nose triangle using the template provided...

Sew four Half squares as shown at left, using Color 1 and Color 2 half square triangles. Press seams towards darker side. These should be 2-1/2"...

Now place a small Color 1 square right sides together and all edges aligned on one end of the Color 2 rectangle. On the back of the small square, lightly draw the diagonal, and then sew ON that drawn line. Cut off the excess sea, allowance, and press the remainder towards the triangle. Repeat this with the other small square on the other end of the rectangle. Now sew the Color 1 rectangle to the top of that unit. Press seam towards Color 1 rectangle...
To make the nose unit, sew the small black nose triangle to the Color 1 trapezoid, using a 1/4" seam. Press seam towards trap. Sew the remaining Color 2 half square triangle to this nose section, and press seam towards the nose unit... ...on to Page 2!
