The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Santa Fe Trail Block! You will need to print out one copy of each template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be plenty!

After your units are paper pieced, join the middle row sections, then sew all the rows together!

 The quilt shows nine Santa Fe trail blocks set on point, with alternating Square in square blocks in the center, and half pieced blocks on the edges. A Half square border surrounds the whole thing :o)
