** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Mark and cut the first Color 3  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 2 and Color 3  2-1/2" x 18" strips into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles each...

Now sew the other Color 3  2-1/2" x 20" strip to the Color 1 strip of the same length, along one long edge, right sides together, and using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric...

Then mark and cut the unit you just made at 2-1/2" intervals...

Place a Color 3 small square atop a Color 2 rectangle, right sides together and all edges aligned. Lightly mark the diagonal on the back of the Color 3 square. Sew on this line. Cut off excess seam allowance, and press the remainder towards the inner rectangle. Repeat with another small Color 3 square on the other end. Make four of these...

Then sew each of these units to a Color 3 rectangle along one long edge, right sides together. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric. Make four of these...on to Page 2!
