** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

one 8" square of each color used should be PLENTY :o)

Start by laying out your templates on the correct fabrics. I didn't list it as a needed color, but you will also need a teeny bit of black for the Partridge's plumes, and an 8 1/2-9" square of white background fabric! Follow the directions below for order of placement :o)

On an 8 1/2"-9" square of white background fabric, lay out ALL the pieces, so that you can arrange them where you like them best. Remove all but the leaves, pin them in place, and appliqué them to the background, using thread to match the leaves...

Next pin on the stems, and appliqué them in place...

Add the body, changing to thread that matches the body fabric...

Now add the ruff, changing thread to a color that matches the ruff fabric...

Then add the head, tucking the black plumes under the head before you sew it down. Sew the plumes on with black thread, and the head in thread that matches the head...

Next add the pear and appliqué it with thread to match...

Then embroider on the embellishments...I suggest a satin stitch eye, a backstitch eye outline, and backstitch tail and leg outlines...

Here's one that Nancy made!   Linda's!

Now... I am going to do something different, and NOT show a quilt of this yet

...I have in mind doing all Twelve Days of Christmas!

Stay Tuned! :o)

in the meantime...Happy Quilting!
