I was checking out quilting sites and really found a great one with yours. I am a beginner quilter, but am expanding my attempts as I learn more and more with each quilt. I have made 4 quilts so far, all of my own design. I am working on a quilt for my 9-yr old (as of 3/27) granddaughter. It is called the best friends quilt, but I made the pieced blocks and set it together with sashes and blocks. She has seen it already as it is in the quilt frame, and she loves it. Of course, she loves everything I do for her. She's a treasure to be sure. I have two daughters, 31 and 29, and two grandchildren, a boy (2) and girl (9), and a new little girl on the way in a month. I will be making a quilt for little Abby as soon as I get this one done. Then one for my best friends' anniversary this summer. For some reason, I am finding real joy in this lately. I like to paint, garden, I put out a newspaper for the residents at the nursing home I work at, and I really love to fish. Come on Spring!!!! I started quilting in 1995. I do belong to our local Quilting Guild, and enjoy it very much. I have made approximately 18 quilts, and have given them all as gifts. My favorite is the one I finished last year. Our family Quilt. I sent blocks back to Kansas in 1999 to have everyone sign one that is in our Family and put together an awsome quilt with all our names on it in family order for our Reunion in August of 2000. Each Family will get to keep it for a year, then pass it on the the next family at each reunion until we all have a turn at it. I placed a picture of my Grandparents in the center with their names, date of birth and death, and when they were married. They had 6 children who all married, so these blocks are all around the quilt. Their children (my generation) and the grandchildren are the next smaller blocks, then the great grandchildren (smaller) and finally the great great grandchildren (smallest). Each block fits inside the other one, and each one is bordered with a different color. Around my grandparents picture is all the colors of the generations. I also added our Family Crest on the front. One the back I placed a story of My Grandparents and how they met, and everything about Kansas that I could think of. The state flower, bird, flag, tree, wheat, and of course pictures of all the characters in the Wizard of Oz. There are 6 children, 13 grand children, 23 Great grandchildren and 7 great great grand children. it is a real treasure and something that we can all share.
