Sew the small half squares to a Color 1  2-1/2" square, using scant 1/4" seams, pressing seam allowances towards the Color 1 square; Sew two of these units together. Make four of these units...

 

Next, place a Color 2  2-1/2" square atop a Color 1  2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle, right sides together and edges aligned. Lightly mark the diagonal on the back of the small square, in the direction shown at  far left, then sew ON the marked line. Cut off excess seam allowance and press the remainder towards the center triangle. Add another square in the same way to the other end of the Color 1 rectangle, referring to the diagram for direction of sewing. Make  eight of these flying geese units...

 

 

To four of the previous units, add a Color 1  2-7/8" triangle to each end...

 

 

Add a Color 1 quarter square triangle to the top of each of these units, pressing seam allowances towards the bottom units...

 

 

Sew a Color 4 half square triangle to each side, pressing seam allowances towards the center units...

 

 

To two of the remaining four flying geese units, sew a Color 1  2-1/2" square to each end, pressing seams towards the squares...

 

 

The last two flying geese get sewn to either side of the Color 1 4-1/2" square...on to Page 3!
