Speed piece the half squares by stacking a Color 1 and Color
3 2-3/8" x 9-1/2" strip right sides together and all
edges aligned. On the back of the top strip lightly draw in the 2-3/8" square lines, and draw in the diagonals as shown at left.
Now sew a scant 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals,
pivoting at the square lines. Cut apart on the square lines and on the
marked diagonals between the rows of stitching. This will give you
eight half squares. Press seams to darker side. Trim these back to
measure 2" if needed. Repeat this with Color 1 and Color
2 2-3/8" x 4-3/4" strips to get four half squares in
that color combo, and again with Color 2 and Color 3 2-3/8"
x 4-3/4" strips...

Now sew all these half squares together to make the block's
center, as shown at far left. Use scant 1/4" seams, and press
seams in alternating directions by row...
|
|

|
Sew two of the pieced triangle units to the top and bottom of
the center unit, pressing seams out towards triangles. Then sew the
remaining two pieced triangle units to the block's sides, again
pressing seams out towards the triangles...
|
|

|
Now sew on the four corner triangle units...and it's a done deal!
Good Job!! :o) on to Page 3!
