** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First cut the Color 1  2" x 12" strip into six  2" squares.  Now cut the Color 1  2-3/8" x 7-1/8" strip into three 2-3/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square triangles...

Cut the Color 2  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Then cut the Color 3  2" x 4" strip into two 2" squares. Cut the Color 3  2-3/8" x 7-1/8" strip into three 2-3/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square triangles...

Next, from six DIFFERENT dark blue fabrics, cut four 3-7/8" half square triangles, and two 3-1/2" squares...

Sew the Color 2 half square triangles to the Color 4, 5, 6 + 9 blue half square triangles...right sides together and using a 1/4" seam allowance. Press each to the darker side. These should measure  3-1/2"...

Sew the Color 1 and Color 2 half square triangles right sides together using a 1/4" seam allowance. Make six of these. Press seams to darker sides. These should measure 2" . Now sew three of the units shown at bottom left, using the half squares we just made and the Color 1 2" squares... on to Page 2!
