To make the first type of corner unit, sew a Color 5 half square triangle to the bottom edge of a Color 4 square. Press seam towards the triangle. To make the "Indian Hatchet" units, stack a Color 5 small square atop the left top corner of a Color 2 square, right sides together. M ark the diagonal on the back of the small square, and sew ON this line. Trim off the excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the small triangle. Repeat this with another small square on the opposing corner. Make eight of these... |

Now piece the whole block, by joining the previously made units, using the solitary Color 3 3-1/2" square as the block's center. Use all scant 1/4" seams to piece the block, and press seams in alternating directions as you go! |
