The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try Light and Shadows! You will need to print out four copies of each of the units needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Two of each unit will be sewn with color arrangement one, and two with a reverse color arrangement. Fat Quarters will be fine!

Once you have paper pieced your units sew them together as shown at left, making two of these units...

...and two of these units...

Now join the units as shown at left to make the block, alternating pressing directions with each addition! That's it!
