**Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block**

First mark and cut your Color 3  3-1/2" x 21" strip into six 3-1/2" squares...

Then speed piece your Color 1/Color3 half squares, by placing the 3-7/8" x 11-5/8" strips right sides together, marking the 3-7/8" square lines, marking the diagonals in the direction shown, and then sewing in one continuous motion ,first 1/4" above the marked diagonals, then pivot and sew 1/4" below the marked diagonals. Cut apart ON the marked lines. Press to darker side. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed...

Do the same with the Color2/Color 3  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips to make half squares in that color combination...and now...

Row one is made by piecing squares in the following order...a plain Color 3, a Color1/Color 3 half square...

...a Color 2/Color 3 half square, and a plain Color 3 square. Be sure they are facing in the right direction! Press all seams towards the left...on to Page 2!
