** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack them, and cut once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Next mark and cut the Color 2  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack them, and cut once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Now sew a Color 1 and a Color 2 half square triangle together using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seams to darker side. Trim this back to measure 3-1/2" if needed. Make four units like this...

Then sew the Color 1  1-1/2" x 26" strip right sides together to the top edge of the Color 2  2-1/2" x 26" strip, using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam to darker side. Mark this and cut at 6-1/2" intervals...

Now piece the block as shown at left. Make three rows, using the Color 1  6-1/2" square as the block's center, pressing seams in alternate directions by row. Sew the rows together and you've done it! :o)
