The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Heroes and Rockets Block! You will need to print out two copies of the template A page, and one copy of the B and C pages per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. This uses a dark, and a medium dark gold, a yellow gold, and dark green and a white. Fat Quarters should be ample!

Sew two side units to each side of two shorter cross pieces, pressing seams towards side units. Sew the longer cross piece to the last short cross piece. Now sew the side triangles you made to the center cross piece, and that's it!

The quilt is four blocks by five, its centers from the 1930's Sky Rocket block...Green for the heart, Gold for the Heroes, Yellow for the Stars, White for the Heavens....I hope it helps you find some peace in this tragic time....
