** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First, mark and cut your Color 1  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these with edges aligned, and cut together once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...
Do the same with your Color 3 strip of the same size...
Next cut your Color 1  4-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...
...and do the same with your Color 2 strip of the same size...
Sew your Color 2 and Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strips together along one long edge, using a scant 1/4" seam, and pressing seam allowances towards darker fabric. Cut this new unit into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" two color rectangles...
Start by sewing one of your two color rectangles to the right side of one Color 2 rectangle. Make two of these units. Then make two with the two color unit sewn to the left side of the rectangle...
Now sew a Color 1 triangle to a Color 3 triangle, using a scant 1/4" seam, pressing seam allowances towards darker fabrics. Make eight of these half triangle squares, then sew two together in pairs as shown Make four of these units...
Sew them to one long side of a Color 1 rectangle, as shown. Make four of these units...on to Page 2!
