This makes a 10" block  and it's a great block for beginners!!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

 

 

Start by cutting the Color 1  6" x 16" strip into two 3" x 10-1/2" rectangles and two 3" x 5-1/2" rectangles...

 

 

Cut the Color 2 and Color 3  3" x 6" strips into two 3" squares of each...

 

 

Sew the Color 2 and Color 3 squares together as shown at left using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Press all seams to darker sides...

 

 

Next add the shorter Color 1 rectangles to the top and bottom of the center four patch unit, again using scant 1/4" seams. press seams towards Color 1 strips. Add the longer Color 1 rectangles to the sides, pressing towards the Color 1 strips, and you are all done! Good Job! ...on to Page 2!
