** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

 

Using the templates provided cut eight diamonds( four in the opposing direction, and one large square from the Color 1  5-1/2" x 24" strip. Cut the four side triangles from a Color 2  6" square. Cut the center triangles from a Color 2  4" x 8" strip...

 

Sew a pair of diamonds right sides together using a scant 1/4" seam, starting at the upper left point and stopping 1/4" from the end of the seam. Backstitch to secure. Now add a side triangle to the top right and the bottom left...

 Sew a center triangle to the unit above, starting your sewing at the bottom edge, and sew up to a point 1/4" from the end of the center triangle. Backstitch to secure. Now fold the unit up, right sides together, to align the remaining un-sewn edges. Stitch from the previous stopping point to the edge. Make two units like this...on to Page 2!
