This makes a 12"" block , and is part of the "Rail Fence Family"...in the case of this block it's all about Location-Location-Location of the colors within the blocks--darks in the "center wheel, then mediums, then lights on the outside"!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

   

Sew the Color 1, Color 2 and Color 3 strips right sides together along the long edges as shown at left, using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, then press the seams to one side. Cut this pieced unit at 6-1/2" intervals...
   

 

Then rotate the squares so that they lay out like the picture at left. Sew two horizontal rows, alternating pressing direction by row. Join the two rows and you have finished your block!  ...on to Page 2!
