Add 1/4" seam allowances to these template pieces!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First, after adding the seam allowances to your templates, cut 4 of piece "C" in Color 1, and 4 in Color 2 from the 3" x 27" strips. Then cut 2 of piece "A" in Color 1 and 2 in Color 2 from the 4" x 13" strips. Next cut 4 of piece "B" and 4 of "B-Rev" from the 3" x 14" strips. I will show the construction of one of the four units that make up the block. Fat Quarters are fine for this one!

Sew a B piece to the left side of the A piece, right sides together, and using a SCANT 1/4" seam. Press the seam allowance towards the darker fabric. Sew a B-Rev piece to the opposing side in the same manner. Make two units like this...

On the back side of the top edge of the C pieces mark a point on the 1/4" sewing line, 1/4" in from the edge on each end. Now place one of the C pieces lined up with the bottom edge of the unit we just made, right sides together, and sew between the two marked points. Press the seam allowance towards the A piece. Leave the B / C seam un sewn for now...

Place another C piece against the open right side edge, and again, stitch from 1/4" point to 1/4" point. Leave the B-Rev /C and C /C seams un sewn for now...

Next fold the block in half on the diagonal, right sides together, as shown at left,  and stitch the B/ C and B-Rev /C seams from the 1/4" points to each edge. Press seams towards the darker fabric...

Then fold the block right sides together on the OTHER diagonal, and sew the remaining seam from 1/4" point to edge. Press to one side...              ...on to Page 2!
