The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Double Crown Block! You will need to print out two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

Next mark and cut the Color 4  2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip into five 2-1/2" squares...

Now we'll speed piece the quarter square triangle units. Stack the Color 2 and Color 3  5-1/4" squares right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly draw the diagonal. Sew a scant 1/4" on each side of the marked line. Use a ruler and rotary cutter to cut the block apart on the opposite diagonal from the way in which you sewed. Now also cut apart on the marked diagonal lines. This will give you four quarter square triangles...

Do the paper piecing of the two corner units, then sew a quarter square triangle to the bottom and right of each, being sure to pay attention to the color orientation of the quarter square triangles...
