The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Diamond Strips block! You will need to print out two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You also need one 1-1/2" x 9"  brown strip. Fat Quarters will be fine!

After your paper piecing is done, sew two rows of three diamond units each, with the 1-1/2" strip in between :o)

Here are five blocks by three. To do a whole quilt, it's easier to make bed-length rows of diamond units, and sew bed length strips between the rows of diamonds.
