** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Start by marking and cutting the Color 2  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles.  Repeat this with the Color 2  3" x 6" strip, cutting that into two 3" squares, stacking those and cutting them into four half square triangles...

Then mark and cut the Color 3  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles.  Repeat this with the Color 3  3" x 6" strip, cutting that into two 3" squares, stacking those and cutting them into four half square triangles...

Now mark and cut the Color 3  3-1/2" x 14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares...

Next mark and cut the Color 1  4-1/4" x 17" strip into four 4-1/4" squares. Stack these and cut them twice on the diagonal to make sixteen quarter square triangles. Mark and cut the Color 3  4-1/4" x 8-1/2" strip into two 4-1/4" squares. Stack and cut them twice on the diagonal t make eight quarter square triangles...

Using the Color 2 and Color 3 half square triangles, sew four each in small size and large size, using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Press seams to the darker sides, and trim the smaller one's back to measure 2-5/8" if needed. Trim the larger ones back to measure 3-1/2" if needed...

Using the Color 1 and Color 3 quarter square triangles, sew four each of the two quarter square triangles shown at left. Press seams to darker sides...on to Page 2!
