The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is
go to the Practice Paper Piecing
Page. When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back
and try the pencil, or crayon! You will need to print out one copy
of each of the units needed per pencil or crayon you want to make on
very lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be plenty! |

After your units of choice are pieced...you have the
makings of a great quilt border...all pencils... |

...or all crayons...or a mixture! You can face them
all the same way, or alternate directions, as I did here...or sew
them end to end! Use them as a block if you prefer, four sewn
together side to side makes an 8" square...or how about adding
six inches on background fabric above and below a window width strip
of these, and using it as a window valance? The choices go on and
on with this one!
