Sew your 1-1/2" strip sets together into 36-patch units as shown at left, using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Make twelve units like this...

 

Now it's time to sew together the sampler blocks! These use just the 2-1/2" squares and half squares! Use scant 1/4" seam allowances and follow the illustrations below for piecing info!

 

The Shoofly block... The Formal Garden block...

The Anvilette block... The Geese Around block...

The Friendship Star block...

The Calico Puzzle block...

 

 For borders, from Color 1, piece together two 3-1/2" x 21-1/2" for each of the side borders, (or a little longer to compensate for the size of your top.) Also cut two 3-1/2" x 36-1/2" for the top and bottom borders. From Color 2 piece together two 3-1/2" x 26-1/2" for each of the sides, (or a little longer to compensate for the size of your top.) Piece together two 3-1/2" x 21-1/2" strips (or a little longer to compensate for the size of your top.) for each of the top and bottom strips...on to Page 3!
