Here's Ruthie's Test-runner!

 

** Supplies List ** 

Color 1 Color 1 needs: one 2" x 16" strip AND one 4" x 20" strip AND one 3-1/2" x 28" strip AND one 7" x 20" strip = 1/2 yard
Color 2 Color 2 needs: one 4" x 24" strip AND one 4" x 20" strip AND one 3-1/2" x 28" strip AND one 7" x 20" strip AND one 2" x 28" strip AND four 2" x width of fabric strips = approx 42" (called WOF) = 7/8 yard
Color 3 Color 3 needs: one  5-1/2" x 22" strip AND one 2" x 28" strip AND four 2" x WOF strips = 1/2 yard
Color 4 Color 4 needs: one 4" x 40" strip AND one 5-1/2" x 22" strip AND one 10" x 40" strip AND one 2" x 28" strip AND four 2" x WOF strips = 7/8 yard
Color 5 Color 5 needs: six 3-1/2" x WOF strips = 5/8 yard
Binding = 5 strips 2-1/2" x WOF = 3/8 yard 

Backing = 4" bigger than runner in both directions = 74" x 33" = 2 yards...OR...To use a Non-pieced backing, you need 2-1/8 yards 

To piece backing, cut the 2 yards into two 1 yard  x WOF pieces. Remove selvedge edges and sew together like this:
