To make the block's Corner units place a Color 2  3-1/2" square right sides together atop the lower right corner of a Color 4 5" square, with outer edges aligned. (I show them staggered here just so you can see what units I am referring to-yours need to be aligned!) On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew on this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the corner. Make a total of eight corner units in this color arrangement, and eight more using the rest of the Color 4  5" squares with Color 1 3-1/2" squares as the corners. These should measure 5"...

Next we'll do the Side units! Start by sewing the eight Color 1  2" x 5" rectangles right sides together to the top edges of the eight Color 2  3-1/2" x 5" rectangles.  Press seams towards the top strips. Now place a Color 3  2-3/4" square right sides together atop the lower left corner of the units, with outer edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew on this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the corner. Repeat this with another Color 3 square on the lower right corner of each unit. Make a total of eight corner units in this color arrangement, and eight more using the Color 1  3-1/2" x 5" rectangles, Color 2  2" x 5" rectangles and Color 4  2-3/4" squares These should measure 5"...

Now lay out your completed units to make two blocks in this color arrangement. Sew units together by row, and then join the rows. Press the top and bottom row seams to the outside, and the middle row seams to the center...on to Page 4!
