To make the center unit place a Color 1  3-1/2" square lined up with the upper left corner of a Color 2  6-1/2" square, right sides together. On the back of the top small square draw the diagonal. Sew ON this diagonal line. Trim off excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the outer triangle. Repeat this with another Color 1 square on the opposing corner. Repeat again with two more Color 1 squares on the other two corners, pressing those seam allowances towards the center square...

Sew together pairs of half squares as shown at left, four units of each arrangement, using as always SCANT 1/4" seams...

 

 

Now sew a Color 2 rectangle to the left hand half square pair unit along the right side. Add the right hand half square pair unit to the right of that. Make three more units like this for a total of four...

 

 

Next sew the quarter square triangles together in pairs to make quarter squares. Make four of these...

Then sew a quarter square to a Color 2 small square along the right edge. Add another Color 2 small square to the right of that. Make three more units like this, for a total of four...

 

 

Sew a quarter square unit to the bottom of each half squares unit, making four units as shown at left...

 

Piece the block by joining the previously made units! Press the top and bottom rows towards the outer units. Press the center row towards the center units...Done!! :o) ...on to Page 3!
