** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 5" strip into two 2-1/2" squares. Then cut the Color 1   4-1/2" x 9" strip into two 4-1/2" squares...

Now repeat the above steps with the Color 2  2-1/2" x 5" strip, and the Color 2  4-1/2" x 9" strip...

Next cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 18" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...

Then cut the Color 4  5" x 20" strip into sixteen 2-1/2" squares...

Place a Color 4   2-1/2" square atop the left end of a Color 3 rectangle, right sides together. On the back of the square mark the diagonal. Sew on this marked line. Cut of the excess seam allowance; press the remainder towards the outer triangle. Repeat this with another Color 3 square on the opposite end. Make four of these...

Sew a Color 4   2-1/2" square to the left and right ends of each of the flying geese units just made. Sew one Color 1 square to the left end of two of the previously made geese-plus-squares units; sew one Color 2  2-1/2" square to the right end of these...on to Page 2!
