The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Cats in the Corners block! You will need to print out two copies of the template A + B pages, and one of the C page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You also need one 5" square of darker blue (-use the template C to cut the proper sized center square.)  A Fat Quarter of each fabric will be ample!

After all units are paper pieced, sew the two smaller corner units to opposing sides of the center blue square. Then add the larger corner units to the other sides. Now add the shorter side units, and lastly add the larger side units. All done!

Here are four blocks by five with simple plain borders!
