The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Belted Star! You will need to print out two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You will also need four1-1/2" x 3-1/2" brown strips, one 1-1/2" brown square, and four gold 1-1/2" squares. A Fat Quarter of each fabric will be plenty!

After your paper piecing is done, sew a gold square to one end of each brown 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" strip. Now lay out all units as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows, then join those rows to complete your block!

Here on its side is a 4 block x 5 block idea of what your quilt will look like!
