Next, sew a small Color 1 half square triangle to one end of each Color 3 rectangle, making one of each unit shown at left. Press seams towards rectangles...

Sew one of the rectangle units to the right, and the other to the bottom of the pieced block unit. Press seams towards rectangles. Now add a Color 3  4-7/8"half square triangle to the bottom right corner to complete the block!

Here are nine Basket of Chips blocks, alternated with hourglass blocks. A pieced border and pieced side and corner triangles complete the pattern :o)

 From Scraps you need : sixteen 2-7/8" half square triangles

Color 3

 Color 3 needs: one 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip AND one 2-1/2" x 13" strip AND one 4-7/8" square
