With my typical January resolve to be more organized, I thought, why not start the fall projects NOW, while there is time to get them done by fall!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1   2-1/2" x 18" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles. Then mark and cut the Color1  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Cut ONE  2-1/2" square of Color 2 as well...

Now mark and cut the Color 2 and Color 3  2-7/8" x 23" strips into eight 2-7/8" squares of each. Cut each of these squares in half once on the diagonal to make sixteen half square triangles of each...

Next mark and cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares. Mark and cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 26" strip into four 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles...

Sew each of the Color 3 half square triangles to a Color 2 half square triangle, right sides together, and using a SCANT 1/4" seam. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric...

Sew units of two half squares, making two in each arrangement shown at left...

Then sew four units as shown at left, made of a Color 1 and Color 3  2-1/2" square each...
