** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Next mark and cut the Color 2  4-1/2" x 18" strip into four  4-1/2" squares...

Now mark and cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 4  2-7/8" x 11-/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these, and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles. Also cut one Color 4  4-1/2" square( not shown)...

Now sew a Color 4 half square triangle to the left and top of  your Color 3 squares, right sides together, using the standard 1/4" seam allowance, and pressing seams towards triangles. Make four units like this...

Sew each of the pieced triangle units we just made to a Color 1 half square triangle, pressing seam towards the larger triangle...on to Page 2!
